Phil Atrill has worked as a glass artist based in London. An MA graduate of the Royal College of Art, he produces his own distinct pieces and also works with many prominent designers, enabling them to produce their own designs in glass.
Atrill currently shows work throughout the U.K. and Europe, with pieces in many private and public collections, including the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. He has received numerous awards and grants and attended classes at Pilchuck Glass School, Seattle, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Maine, USA and Northlands Creative Glass, Scotland.

 

Phil studied at Edinburgh College of Art and obtained a BA Honours Degree in Glass in 1995. In 1996, Phil commenced work with 'First Glass' in London as a Hot-Glass Assistant but also had the opportunity to produce his own work.
In 2001, he received an MA Glass from the Royal College of Art and he was the recipient of several scholarships, which enabled Phil to attend courses by leading glassmakers in Lybster, Scotland and Stanwood and Maine, USA.
Phil has also won many competitions, been the recipient of awards, and featured in numerous publications. At present, Phil is a self-employed glass artist and hot glass assistant working for a number of designers in and around London, whilst continuing to make his own work. Since graduating, Phil has exhibited his work throughout the UK and in Belguim and Japan.
