Porter + Trundle was founded in 2019 as a collaboration between Sarah Emily Porter and furniture-maker, James Trundle. More recently, Sarah has become the sole designer and maker, and uses a combination of traditional craft techniques with digital process and contemporary materials.
Her playful, sculptural works bridge the gap between the functional and dysfunctional, adding an artistic edge to interior spaces. A key theme within the work is the relationship between colour and form, which Porter explores in more depth through her abstract paintings.
The studio has won numerous awards, including the Richard Seager Annual Arts Award 2019 and the New Ashgate Rising Stars Award 2021. In 2019 they were commissioned by the London Festival of Architecture to create their signature City of London Bench which sat outside the Royal Exchange, and in 2020 they were selected by the UK Craft Council to participate in their Talent Programme.
