Margaret Jones is an accomplished tapestry weaver with a deep-rooted passion for her craft. Since the very start she realised that tapestry weaving was what she had to do it was just perfect, right from the moment she touched warp to weft.

Her work is a journey into unexpected stories, inspiring narratives interweaving historical references, her own mythologies and lyrical imagery into vivid portrayals of both traditional and uncommon themes. You are unlikely to find medieval maidens and unicorns in her work, but you never know. Come to that she never quite knows what will come next, an overheard conversation or a chance remark can, in time, become a large tapestry.

Investigate captivating scenes that evoke contrasting sensations as you step into Margaret's enigmatic world; her tapestries are often accompanied by original poetry that reflects the mysterious images in her textiles. She takes pleasure in exploring the mundane with creative energy, often drawing influences from the surreal, but not necessarily Surrealism - blending familiar elements together for emotional dissonance to create images which explore transient concepts in the most intransient of materials.

Tapestry weaving has barely changed since medieval times and Margaret continues to use these ancient techniques to create her tapestries. Generally, she works with cotton warp and wool weft, but sometimes adds linen, silk or bamboo to add texture to the weft
