To celebrate London Craft Week, Contemporary Applied Arts is hosting talented makers Anna Gravelle and Tanya Gomez.
Celebrating outstanding British and international creativity, London Craft Week brings together over 250 established and emerging makers, designers, brands and galleries from around the world.
Anna Gravelle is a multi-media textile artist. She is best known for reimagining the craft of tufting to add three-dimensional character to textile artworks. Working the technique like delicate embroidery, Gravelle gives the tufting craft a sophisticated edge through her choice of materials, fine wool and silky threads. The resulting textural works are beguiling and irresistibly tactile. In response to the last two years, Anna has created new work that celebrates the changing of the seasons, welcoming the beginning of summer with bursts of painterly colour. The work is expressive, with abstract landscapes echoing natural forms.
Anna’s pieces are accompanied by work from renowned ceramicist Tanya Gomez; her signature porcelain vessels in lustrous colours resonate with Anna’s vibrant topography.
