Contemporary Applied Arts is delighted to take part in London Design Festival's 2026 edition with Rhythm, an interdisciplinary exhibition that explores the relationship between repetition and material.
Rhythm brings together an international group of contemporary craft artists from the UK, South Korea, Greece, South Africa and beyond in a new exhibition at Contemporary Applied Arts exploring the universal language of pattern, geometry and repetition. Through jewellery, ceramics and textiles, the exhibition reveals how rhythm transcends both material and culture, connecting makers through shared approaches to form, process and craftsmanship.
Featuring eight artists, Rhythm presents a rich dialogue between diverse cultural perspectives and contemporary craft practices. While each artist works in a distinct medium and aesthetic, their work is united by an exploration of geometric structures, modular forms and repeating motifs. Together, these works demonstrate how rhythm can be experienced visually through pattern, proportion and the careful accumulation of individual elements.
From intricately constructed jewellery assembled from repeated components, to ceramics animated by tessellated surfaces, and textiles layered with geometric pattern, the exhibition celebrates the beauty that emerges through repetition. Each work reflects the rhythm of making itself: the repeated gesture of the hand, the slow building of form, and the balance between precision and intuition.
Presented during one of the world's leading celebrations of design, Rhythm offers visitors an opportunity to discover and acquire exceptional contemporary craft from across the globe while exploring the enduring relationship between pattern and material.
